Meredith Lazowski is a Toronto-based product design leader with 10+ years of experience specializing in zero-to-one product design, UX strategy, and scaling high-performing design teams. With a strong track record in building user-centered experiences across marketplace platforms, health tech, and fintech, she excels in navigating complex, regulated environments.

Most recently, Meredith led the product design team at Hiive, a rapidly growing fintech marketplace for private stock trading, where she scaled the team and aligned user needs, business goals, and compliance. Her work spans both founding new products (0→1) and evolving mature product lines to support rapid scale.

Meredith graduated from the York/Sheridan Bachelor of Design program and gained early recognition, including a semi-finalist spot in The Adobe Awards. She has also worked at RLDatix, leading design for patient safety products used by major healthcare organizations, and helped take Bitnobi from concept to commercialization in the health data governance space.

Outside of design, Meredith is an emerging voice in the Canadian music scene, with a debut album released in 2022. She also helps musicians build their personal brands and digital presence.

    Product Design Leader

    July 2022 – March 2025

    Built and scaled the Product Design function from the ground up, growing the team from one to seven in a rapidly evolving startup environment. Established and implemented a design strategy aligned with business goals and product roadmaps, while improving design operations to support rapid team growth and new feature launches. Collaborated closely with engineering and product leadership to shape user research, design processes, and content strategy. Led the redesign of the initial product concept for long-term scalability, optimizing for growth and usability. Spearheaded zero-to-one design for new features and user flows, launching innovative solutions that addressed key user needs. Mentored the design team through rapid iterations, feature scaling, and the introduction of new product views, while establishing a scalable design system and UX research frameworks to drive consistency and efficiency across outputs.

    Head of Product Design

    October 2019 - June 2022

    Spearheaded zero-to-one product design, turning a conceptual product into a commercially viable data platform for healthcare, fintech, and data governance sectors. Established key design processes and worked alongside engineering to build scalable solutions, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to full commercialization. Led research efforts and collaborated with stakeholders across pharma, government, fintech, and healthcare. In a fast-paced environment, I wore multiple hats, also contributing to branding and helping shape the product’s overall direction.

    Volunteer Design Research & Strategy Lead

    I led the design research strategy, facilitating and planning multiple design research sessions with various patient partners and organizations, including ROCHE. As part of my role, I advised on the initial design and content strategy of the site, ensuring a user-centered approach. Additionally, I created the logo and provided guidance on the overall branding, helping to establish a cohesive visual identity that resonated with users and aligned with the project’s goals.

    Product Design

    2015 – 2019

    I led design and research for a new Patient Experience platform in collaboration with Great Ormond Street Hospital (UK), ensuring the platform met the needs of healthcare professionals and contributed to improved patient outcomes. I played a key role in the growth and iteration of the core product suite, driving consistency and innovation across the platform. Additionally, I directed the strategy and design efforts toward developing a scalable design system.

    In a separate initiative, I led the redesign and product management of the RL HUB customer support portal, improving user engagement and streamlining client interactions across the customer journey. This project connected some of the top hospitals globally, fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals on patient safety. I directed user research with patient safety groups from leading North American health systems, gathering insights to inform product development and ensure the platform effectively addressed critical safety needs.

 

Community Involvement

    • Participated as a mentor for Hexagon UX

    • Has helped various other design students or aspiring designers navigate the ins and out’s of entering the UX space

    • Helped lead the creation of the Young Tech Leaders initiative for Venture Kids , providing micro-grants to young entrepreneurs looking to start businesses in Canada

    • Volunteered as a mentor to provide feedback on students’ startup ideas

    • A former active member bringing a design and product strategy perspective to the innovation stream for The Policy Modernization Group (PMG), an outcomes-driven collaborative working to shape and advance innovative and modern health data policies across Canada.
